Prayer for the Nation

I Timothy 2:1-2
"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for, kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way".

As we prayerfully seek to elects leaders of our country, it is easy to become dismayed at the lack candidates with biblical understanding and conduct. It is at times like these that we must persevere in prayer, knowing that in desperate situations, where sin abounds, His grace abounds all the more!

"The tragedy of our day is not unanswered prayer, but un-offered  prayer.  Unfortunately, the situation is desperate, but the church is not". (John Hagee

Here is one of my mother’s favorite statements about prayer:

SOME PRAYER:  SOME POWER.
MORE PRAYER:  MORE POWER.
MUCH PRAYER:  MUCH POWER.

The question each of us must ask is this:  how much power do I want from God?  YOUR ANSWER is probably very simple:  lots.  Yet we have as much or as little of God’s power RIGHT NOW as we are willing to pray to receive.

A prayer-less Christian is a powerless Christian.

But a prayerful Christian can accomplish ANYTHING—even change the course of a nation.
